When we create our clients website we build in measurement tools and methods so we can monitor the success of our work. The logic is simple, our clients need to know what works for them and what doesn't, and it's called return on investment!
It's often said that if you can't measure you can't manage. It's certainly true of websites; if you aren't measuring your website then it's almost impossible to know how to improve it.
Unfortunately many website owners have little or no idea how effective their websites are. Ask them how many sales or enquiries were generated last month and most will not be able to tell you, yet the internet is one of the most measureable forms of marketing available.
For many businesses there seems to be almost an obsession about knowing the number of ‘hits' their site gets. But what does this really mean? We believe that what ultimately counts are enquiries and online sales. If a website fails to get either of these then it is not effective. A website should record not only this information but other useful data in order to identify which areas can be improved to increase sales.
